UPDATE:
The Indian government has suddenly backed away from the import licence requirement for laptops of all kinds reported in the news of September 26, 2023, various Indian news services report. They say the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology told the companies this at a meeting on the import management system on Friday.
However, this does not mean that the requirement is no longer coming: according to the reports, it has merely been postponed until further notice. It is possible that it could come in November 2024 after all.
